Samsung Ads is looking to add a Sr. Big Data Analyst to our Product Data Analytics team.

About the team

The Goal of the Product Data Analytics Team is to guide decisions & conversations by providing accurate & actionable information based on extensive exploratory analytics of data. We work very closely with not only the Product domains, but also many cross-functional team members such as AdOps, Inventory, FinOps among others.

This role reports directly to our Sr. Manager, Product Data Analytics.

All of our employees are currently working remotely from home. In the future, this role will be fully remote based anywhere in Canada if you are outside of Montreal or surrounding areas or hybrid based and will require a mix of working from our Montreal, QC office and remote work.

What you will do

  • Synthesize raw data into actionable insights to drive business results, identify key trends and opportunities and report the findings in a simple, compelling way
  • Design and maintain data systems and databases; this includes fixing coding errors and other data-related problems
  • Mine data from various sources, possibly reorganizing it in a format that can be easily read by either human or machine
  • Prepare reports to effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data. 
  • Collaborate with PMs and Engineers to help identify opportunities for improvements based on data and ​conduct preliminary & exploratory analysis towards roadmap items
  • Provide quantitative analysis and strategic insights to make smart, data-driven decisions
  • Software development, using various APIs, for ad-hoc reports, dashboards, projects, and process automation


What you will need

  • University degree in Computer Science, Relevant technical degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience as a Data Analyst of similar responsibilities 
  • SQL (preferably redshift or Postgres)
  • At least experience with 1 programming language capable of writing code (preferably with Python or R)
  • Git or any other code versioning system 
  • Database IDE (such as Datagrip, DBeavor or similar)
  • Excel (capable of creating pivot tables and graphs)
  • Experience with producing data visualizations, presenting and discussing findings
  • Experience with various formats of data (ex. JSON, Parquet, avro)
  • Excellent verbal, written and reading English communication skills; French is an asset
  • Open to collaboration and working as part of a team 
  • Strong time management and problem solving skills with the ability to think critically 

Nice to Haves (assets):

  • Experience with AWS Services (Athena, Lambda, EC2)
  • Experience with BI Tools (ex. Quicksight, Tableau, Looker, etc)
  • Experience with Unix/Linux and shell scripting 
  • Experience with Apache AirFlow
  • Knowledge or experience of the AdTech space 
  • Basic Statistic background
